Wolf Trap Professional Development 2007

Upcoming Workshop Series for Early Childhood Educators

The Michigan Wolf Trap Professional Development Workshop Series is designed to offer the early childhood community opportunities to learn creative and meaningful arts-based techniques and strategies that are appropriate for teaching early learners. Join Wolf Trap teaching artists as they demonstrate how drama, music, movement and puppetry can reinforce early childhood skills and concepts such as emergent literacy, colors and numbers, while fostering a sense of self-esteem, engagement and joy of learning.

August 21, 2007 - Muskegon National Blues Master Wolf Trap Artist Kenneth Jackson
Learn how to involve preschool students in the basics through blues music - including call and response, scat singing, riffs and work songs. Basically Blues focuses on colors, numbers, shapes, sequencing, and other basic academic skills. Through active participation in different styles of blues music, children discover their historical, cultural and artistic features of this music.

National Dance Master Wolf Trap Artist Roberta “Bobbi” Lucas
This engaging workshop is for those who want to incorporate movement and dance activities into their work with children. Recorded music, whistles, rhythm instruments and simple props made from scarves, fabric and elastic bands enable teachers and children to “dance” stories, themes and lessons that are appropriate for “every body” at whatever age or ability level.
