Wolf Trap Artist Tom Johnson

Artist's Name:

Tom Johnson

Area of Expertise:

Mime, drama, dance

Educational Philosophy:

I love teaching young children because it is so rewarding. All young children, no matter what their social or economic status, exude joy and have an insatiable appetite for learning. Inspiring a child, then watching him or her grow, is one of the greatest rewards in the world.

Approach:

My approach is simple: make learning fun! I believe that if we can get kids to associate "learning" with "fun" we will create lifelong learners. By teaching teachers how to incorporate the performing arts into the early education curriculum, we help make learning fun in new and creative ways. The performing arts utilize children's visual and kinesthetic skills as well as auditory skills.
