What
a center director should know before applying for a
residency The
Michigan Wolf Trap Program is a partnership between 1. Even
though the Michigan artists have completed a comprehensive
training program, it is strongly recommended that centers be
prepared to help them become better aquatinted with the
needs, interests, and developmental stages of young
children. 2. The
objective of the program is to encourage teachers to
regularly use performing arts teaching strategies to help
their children learn basic skills. To help fulfill that
objective and document project results, center directors are
asked to monitor the residency by: Scheduling to avoid
conflicts Regularly observing
artists' classroom sessions and planning meetings Monitoring the
teachers' use of performing arts activities introduced in
the classroom as a result of the residency. 3. Additional
classroom coverage is required to allow teachers and artists
before- and after-session planning meetings. There is no
money in the project budget to cover costs of substitutes or
additional aides. 4. Artists
work with 3-6 year old children, with the following
guidelines: Groups of 3 year olds
must include at least 12 children and not more than 15
children. Groups including
children from ages 3-6 must include at least 12 children and
not more than 26 children. 5. A
$140 per 7 week residency or $50 per 1 week residency cash
match may be charged per funded classroom. 6. See "What
