Building Foundations Scholarship

The Building Foundations Scholarship is for one approved early childhood education course at a participating college. This class can be used toward licensing requirements for annual training. Many students utilize this model to fulfill their required Administration course to be a director, and Infant/Toddler Curriculum course to be a Lead Infant/Toddler teacher, or as an introductory course to determine if they are interested in pursuing a degree before committing to a year-long scholarship agreement.

The Building Foundations Scholarship pays for the majority of the cost of an approved 3 or 4 credit early childhood education course, includes a Student Access Stipend, and a Bonus for successfully completing the course. Building Foundations scholarship recipients must commit to working in the field of early childhood education following the completion of their contract. You may be eligible for the Building Foundations Scholarship if you:

  • Work a minimum of 20 hours per week as a licensed center-based, family, or group home setting
  • Earn $19.60 per hour or less
  • Are eligible to receive Michigan in-state student tuition rate
